Skalfynd

Björktrastarna har börjat kläcka! Hittade de här skalen när jag hämtade morrontidningarna. Nu kommer det att gå åt kilovis med daggmask. Huka er – alla ryggradslösa!!!

  1. Having just returned from a regular visit to Ulricehamn and being a keen amateur bird watcher myself I was intrigued to see a pair of Fieldfares (UK name) (Turdus Pilaris) Björktrast while there. Are these birds common in this area?

It took me a little while to identify them as I compare my English Birdbook and my Swedish Birdbook using the Latin names so that I can find the Swedish names. I have never seen a Björktrast in the wild before as they are only an infrequent visitor to my part of the UK. Tatrast are the common bird in the UK with the occasional Dubbeltrast but Björktrast very rarely seen.

I enjoy all your nature pictures tremendously.

  2. Nice that you havd find my little blog!!! The Fieldfares are very common here. Specially in my yard... And in the area nearest the lake... In the alderwood. I have two pairs breeding just out of my door...:-) I think the Fieldfares are a bit disrespected. They have not the beautiful song like the Common Blackbird and the Song Thrush. But i like them. They vivifying the near nature... Just now they are feeding their pull with lots of earthworms.
But they are hardly hunted by the sparrowhawk. I have seen two who was taken in last week...
